R.I.P. Egon Spengler

Well this SUCKS. Harold Ramis — brilliant writer, actor, director, producer and most importantly Egon Spengler in Ghostbusters — passed away this morning from complications of an autoimmune disease. Not only did he help Dan Aykroyd write Ghostbusters, he was behind such brilliant movies as Groundhog Day (“Don’t drive angry!”), Caddyshack and Stripes. RIP, Mr. Ramis. You will be sorely missed.

The wonderful Harold Ramis – gone too soon. Human bedbug Ted Nugent – alive and kicking. Hey, Karma, I need a word with you.

  1. Damn shame. Great comment underneath!

So very sad to lose such a talented and (by all accounts) extremely nice man. The best quote I’ve heard about his passing is from Dan Aykroyd, who said:

“Deeply saddened to hear of the passing of my brilliant, gifted, funny friend, co-writer/performer and teacher. May he now get the answers he was always seeking.”

Harold co-wrote Ghostbusters with Dan; they both had an interest in the paranormal. Wherever he is now, I hope Harold has the answers he was looking for and that he finally “received total consciousness.”*

*One of the funniest lines from Caddyshack.

  3. So sad to hear of his passing. It’s almost as if a part of my youth died along with him 😦
